Well done jimbo for taking the leap
Blanco-ing your kit is like a British initiation ceremony - never to be repeated!
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
Our platoon today
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
A cup?
Yep pretty standard actually.
Originally it was supposed to go in your pack with the water bottle but as more kit was issued and folk run out of room things start getting strapped to the outside.
The mug on the pack is pretty iconic really.

Wow, that's a good number. Where was it ?
[edit] I know now.

PBI lookin' awesome
Really makes a difference seeing more than three re-enactors wearing the same uniform.
Nice work Jimbo. Might I suggest wearing the FS cap at a more rakish angle. The style seems to be to wear the cap as far to the right of your head as gravity will allow.
Next time we meet I'll give you Waxy Blanco Masterclass 101
Very nice pictures there Gadge, looks good!
Wondering about the one with a cub hung from his small pack, was this a common thing?
You can see more of our lot doing it there.
A lot of us had left our mugs off though as before that patrol and route march we'd just had a brew!
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Does make a very annoying sound when you run though, probably how all the enamel chips off too!
gadge, i love how in some of the "treating the wounded" pics people seem to be laughing. "HA! that guy was shot"
They are laughinf as it was a first aid lesson, hence the instructors taking notes and the 'casualties' were hamming it up
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
haha nice, great uniforms and kit though.
Not sure where to put these, but figured I'd share. So if a mod wishes to move them somewhere then feel free as they aren't of my own kit, but do show kit...so...not sure lol
Got emailed a few pics from a friend after they took a trip to Duxford at the weekend,
Nice ones of the Scoped No1 Mk3 as you don't seem (or I don't) to see them that often, as it's more commonly the NO4T
That looks like Dickie Knight's display... I met him at Duxford last year. I think he displays there quite a bit. He's a professional re-enactor and makes some smashing BD and other stuff.
Great stuff Giovanni!
As luck would have it we have another SAS party and a couple of Jed teams dropping into your area on the 10th July. Hope you can hold out until then because jerry are everywhere.

Lovin the pics of the British platoon together like that, really cool and makes me want to get my arse in gear about getting British kit myself.
A great impression Giovanni, looking tough as nails!

Looing good!
I take it the sun was bright as you look like you're squinting a bit
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Yeh, it was a mix of bloody bright sunshine, tiredness and me doing my Clint Eastwood squint...still like the pic though.
